A new GMCS project: Uralchimplast chooses efficient planning
GMCS has launched a project to create an automated system of annual and monthly planning for Uralchimplast, Russia’s largest manufacturer of resin and plastics. The system will be based on IBM Cognos Planning.

GMCS has a history of successful business efficiency management projects based on IBM Cognos tools. This project will help cut the time of management decision-making and increase the accuracy of annual and monthly planning through consolidation of financial and quantitative data for all divisions in a single information system.

The new solution implemented by GMCS includes the following features: reporting in real time mode and multi-user access to in a Cognos Planning unified budgeting system with data stored in the ERP and other software products used by the company, while maintaining close integration with Excel.

The project was launched in December 2007. In the first stage, GMCS specialists inspected and described planning processes. This made it possible to start developing the model IBM Cognos Planning with subsequent implementation in Uralchimplast.

"Efficient holding management requires easy-to-use and modern IT tools," says Andrei Kuzmin, deputy CEO and CFO, Uralchimplast. "This project will help us increase productivity by precise and predictable planning, calculation and analysis of long-term financials."

According to the plan adopted by both companies, the annual planning system will be launched in the second quarter of 2008, and the monthly planning will be available before the end of 2008.
