GMCS and Asteros implemented SAP at the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant
GMCS and Asteros completed the resource management system project at the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant.

The new ERP-system based on the SAP platform covers the key business process of the enterprise and takes planning, management and accounting of logistic directions, production and finances to a new level of quality.

The Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (NCCP) is one of the Russia’s largest nuclear fuel cycle enterprises that produce fuels for power and research reactors, and lithium and lithium-based compounds. The key vector of the enterprise's strategy is the improvement of efficiency in all aspects. Therefore, the NCCP makes investments in the technical modernization of the production, improves the corporate management system, in the framework of which a decision was made to implement the ERP-system based on the SAP Business Suite platform.

The project on the deployment of the enterprise information resource management system started in 2007.

The Asteros and GMCS team of consultants together with the NCCP specialists designed, developed and implemented the SAP system. The resource management system supports the following business process:

  • Production planning and management;
  • Procurement management;
  • Inventory management;
  • Sales management;
  • Management of incomes and expenses;
  • Bookkeeping and tax accounting.

In the course of the project, the Asteros and GMCS consultants together with the NCCP specialists developed and implemented the solution on the integration of ERP and the existing payroll accounting system, workshop production accounting system and production design and engineering planning system. The ERP-system was also improved based on the NCCP production specificity. Thus, the system provides the functionality necessary for the implementation of the industry requirements for accounting of nuclear materials. In addition, the consultants together with the customer's specialists developed the reporting forms required to perform the enterprise's operating activities.

At present, the ERP-system is used by more than 200 users. The number of workstations is scheduled to be increased up to 400 in the long term.

"In order to evaluate the effect of the implementation of the new system, initially we performed all operations using both SAP and the business applications that we had used for a long time. The positive change is obvious. The labor intensity of accounting and input of information reduced significantly, most of these operations are performed automatically. We achieved the main objective of the project: now the enterprise's management has access to the authentic and relevant information required for balanced decision-making," says Vadim Sukhikh, Economy and Finance Director.

"At all the stages of the project, the customer helped us understand the logic of the enterprise business processes, and it became an important factor for the successful implementation of SAP. Because the ERP implementation project was actively supported by the NCCP management, we succeeded to effectively debug the system and customize it for the specific operations of the enterprise," notes Alena Koshkina, Head of SAP Practice, Asteros.

"The GMCS's sound experience in implementation of the SAP solutions at the production enterprises and the proprietary practices were used by us within the framework of this large-scale project resulting in a successful build-up of the enterprise resource management system at the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant," comments Andrei Sapozhkov, SAP Solutions Department Director, GMCS.

In the short-term we plan to develop the ERP-system at the NCCP and integrate it in the operations management system of TVEL Fuel Company.
